Eyes

Ever since I can remember, I have always had issues with my eyes. I was literally poked with a stick in my eye, developed a cataract, have undergone various eye “corrective” surgeries and needless to say I am very aware of my eye “health”. Lets just say, I can literally write a book on it!

I have had Ophthalmologists retire on me, move suburbs on me and am now with one who will hopefully practice as long as I am still alive, since I do not want to repeat my history in my own words, even though he now has my file dating back to my childhood!
Over the years my eyes “settled”, but in the past 6 years or so, it really started “acting up” again. Now if you have my sort of history, you pay attention. Eyesight is something which most people take for granted. Trust me, I do not!
Lots of scratching of heads, but luckily now with a “fresh set” of eyes from my now Ophthalmologist, I have been diagnosed to have Uveitis, which has become a “side effect” due to remaining scar tissue left by the Cataract. I am not going to go into much more detail of my “condition”, but now and again Dr G scratches his head, to the point where he will no longer charge me for my treatment!
Currently I am suffering with terrible “dry eyes”. Ironically it makes your eyes tear! You are extremely sensitive to light and of late I am suffering with extremely tired eyes! My current “life style” has not helped at all! In one way or another, I am always on a “screen”, which aggravates my symptoms, but what can I do? I have work to do on my laptop, Zoom meetings to attend, Webinars to attend, a blog to write, Social Media to catch up on, TV to watch!
As you can tell, LOTS going on with my eyes! Unfortunately for me, I have been unable to go and see Dr G, because of lock-down. You have no idea, how relieved I became when I saw that he is re-opening his practice as of Monday, the 4th.
In all seriousness, do not take your eyesight for granted! Look after them at all costs! Listen to your “gut” and if things do not look or feel right, they probably are not! This does not only go for your eye health, but your health in general. And if you unhappy with a diagnosis, get a second or even third opinion. When it comes to your health, trust is so important!
Heads up. When I miss a day of blogging, it is not necessarily because I do not want to blog, it is because I am trying to “listen” to my eyes and give it a rest.
Until next time
Love, light and positive change
Ophelia
