All fogged up

Yesterday was one of “those days”! Wednesdays have become my day for “venturing out”. The day of “running errands” and “stocking up”. Now before anyone gets excited, I do this every 2 weeks. This is not a weekly “expedition” and for good reason!
I was out the house just before 08h30 and oh my word, the amount of people on the road was slightly disturbing! People walking their dogs, pushing prams, jogging, walking and cycling. There were more people out and about being active, than prior to lock-down! It made we wonder how long this “phase” would last. Am still confused by the limited amount of time allowed for exercise, especially now that everyone is “bunched” together! Needless to say I am waiting until the weekend, when I can be out the house by 07h00 and hopefully not walk into anyone else!
People were wearing their masks, which is a good thing. Even those driving in their cars were law abiding citizens!
I had to get my “anti-glare” on my prescription glasses checked out, hence the visit to the Optometrist. Unfortunately for me Dr G, my Ophthalmologist, has broken his finger and needed emergency surgery, so he was not available to “sort out” my dry eyes! Luckily for me the Optometrist and Ophthalmologist are at the same practise, so he could take some notes on my symptoms to pass onto Dr G in the meanwhile. I really cannot wait until 3 June for him to return! Whilst there, both of us with our masks on, we were of course chatting about the discomfort of wearing the masks, especially for those that wear glasses! My eyes were tearing, my glasses were fogged up and I think he could clearly see my distress, hence the notes being passed onto Dr G.

After an “insightful” appointment with special sanitizer wipes for my glasses I headed in the direction of the shops which are also on the way home. Now how I did not make an accident is a miracle! Remember, eyes tearing, glasses fogged up, with no one else in the car besides me, I still kept my mask firmly in place! Lets just say, by the time I got to my stop, I decided I had 2 choices: 1 – wear the mask and glasses and try and see through the fog or 2 – no glasses with mask. In the end I sort of juggled between the 2, depending on what I needed to see and do! With all of this “in-between” juggling of “with and without”, my outing took much longer than anticipated and by the time I got home almost 2 hours and 30 minutes later, I was exhausted!

All unpacking done, face mask washed, groceries and hands sanitized I reflect on my morning. My first thought is that I am not up for all the drama with wearing glasses and a mask whilst shopping, never mind driving, but what options do I have? I am one of those people whom hates clothes shopping, whereas I love going down each aisle of a grocery store!
Yesterdays’ experience really distressed me to a point of either I go the online food shopping route or purchase a face shield with the hope that it works better than the face mask! I have put in my order for the latter so lets see how that goes!
Have you had the same experience or am I on my own here? Do you now understand why I had zero motivation to blog? After the morning that I had, the computer said no!
Until next time.
Love, light and positive change
