Since the start of lock-down I have been grappling with my own inner conflict as to what I should be during this time and how I should be doing it.
Like everyone else, I too have had my ups and my downs. It has been one heck of a roller-coaster ride, like none that I have ever experienced. There were days that I immersed myself in my work, in my exercise, in my hobbies. Then there were days that all I wanted to do was sit in front of the TV and “be”.
Yesterday was the first time in a long time that I actually “allowed” myself to listen to a few coaching podcasts and suddenly I had clarity of mind. It is amazing how certain “messages” comes to you when the time is right.
I came to the realization that because I have allowed myself to feel rage and despair, I am better equipped to be of service to those that have had the same emotions as me. Once we honor our despair we are able to relate to those that are feeling it too. You have to allow yourself to have all of the emotions during these times of “change” so that you are more awake to the emotions of others.
As a transition life coach my main aim is to facilitate your process of change. We are experiencing change like never seen before. We might be in this storm right now, but unfortunately we are not going to see the end of it any time soon. Besides COVID19 we have been forced to face other realities like the BLM “movement”. It is an extremely “controversial” topic, which I do not want to delve into right now, but what I do want to say is that the first step in healing is to just acknowledge and honor each others’ differences.
I realize that even with everything happening around me, I am still in a very privileged position. I am equipped to deal with the drama and trauma which we are surrounded with on a daily basis. Are you? Have you given yourself time to do some “inner repair work”? Have you allowed yourself to heal and just be still? The world is calling for stillness! Stillness from all the outer and inner conflict which we are currently experiencing.

Meditation is a wonderful thing. I must confess, that I was one of those people that thought it was something which “flower power”, “yogi’s” practiced, not “normal” people. How else does one still the mind and allow yourself to just be and experience all the different energies around you? How else does one focus and centre oneself, so that you can intensify your connections with others?

If you have not tried it, now is a good time to start meditating, practicing daily gratitude and mindfulness. Who knows how much longer this lock-down will continue. These are a couple of practices that I would encourage you do do as they will change your life for the better and equip you to deal with all the changes which you are currently experiencing.
Until next time.
Light, love and positive thoughts
