Having Purpose

Of late I have become very aware of how I have fallen into a “trap” of wasting time and not living according to my highest values.
Not too long ago a friend said to me that each day should have purpose and although I agreed with her wholeheartedly I still found myself falling into trap of “wastefulness”. I was in the mindset of “I’ll start on Monday” and then finally I will start on “1 July” and before I knew it, 1 July was upon me!
After running a few errands this morning I paid attention to the emerging sun and the warmth of its rays, so much so that once I returned home I took my mountain bike for a quick spin in my neighborhood. It has only been a couple of days since I have been back on the bicycle, and even though I am still struggling knowing which gears to use, I am absolutely loving how alive I am feeling. Yes, the legs are struggling with the uphill and I might be slightly out of breath when I get home, but these are all indicators that I am alive and working towards a different type of fitness. Plus, I can feel it in the lack of pain in my knees already!
Later I had some baked goods dropped off by a friend whom has started her own baking business. We caught up briefly and I complimented her on her social media and how professional it all looks. Turns out, she is the one doing it. I was instantly green with envy with her talent and my lack of!
Divine milktart cupcakes later and I decided it was time for a podcast on “How to live a meaningful life by Dr John De Martini”. Boy oh boy, did his message hit home for me, especially since I am familiar with his work after reading a few of his books.
The words of my friend rang in my years, “You need purpose”. Add in how I was not living according to my highest values by having meaningless distractions, I had fallen victim to the external world, instead of mastering my internal world. “If you fill your days with that which inspires you, you will stay purposeful. Live according to your values and prioritize your life daily”. “Delegate things that are of lowest value to you”.
I got given a much needed wake up call, but I needed to feel “centered” and “focused” so that I could move forward. Enter my 30 minute “wheel of awareness” practice with Dr Dan Siegal.

Lets just say after an hour with Dr De Martini and 30 minutes with Dr Siegal, I finally sent off an email to my website designer which I was putting off, I emailed my friend to see if she would be interested in helping me with my social media and now I am blogging. I have also taken out my little notebook and I have re-started my gratitude journal.
“If you fill your days with that which inspires you, you will stay purposeful.
"Live according to your values and prioritize your life daily."
"Only when you are centered will you be authentic."
"Your free will matches divine will."
"If you practice gratitude you will always have enough".
Until next time
Light, love and positive thoughts
