The importance of Meditation

These past few weeks have not been the easiest of weeks for me. One of my main “trigger” is fairness and when it is “challenged”, I tend to become like a bull in a china shop or a dog with a bone.

Although I have a great inner circle, there are also times that I just need to be left alone, so that I can work through my own process. I am however blessed that this circle knows when not to push, comforted by the fact that when I am ready to talk I will let them in.

I am not going to go into the “detail” of what has caused me such displeasure and unhappiness, but what I do want to reflect on is the importance of having someone to talk to when the “going gets tough”. Over the years I have come to realize that my “inner circle” has not only become smaller or changed, but that I also have different people to talk to depending on the type of energy I want to feed off.

Thursday passed, I had my bi-weekly check-in with my Coaching Mastermind group. We always cover various topics and situations which might have arisen since our last get-together. This time the importance of meditation came up. I must confess, this is still something that I struggle with. I have formed some great habits when it comes to exercise, “quiet” spiritual time and practicing gratitude, but when it comes to meditation I just could not get going. In hindsight this session was one that came at exactly the right time.

Shortly after the this session, I received a call for a meeting to happen the next day. To say that I was not looking forward to it is an understatement. Luckily for me I was then distracted by getting ready for my Book Club, which I was hosting, the first time in 6 months!

Come Friday morning, I was determined not to be anxious. A friend messaged me and I told her about the emotions I was feeling. Her advise was that maybe I should meditate prior to the meeting. It was as if a light bulb had been switched on, reminding me that just yesterday my coaching network also highlighted the importance of this practice. Yoga mat out, meditation app activated and soon I was transported to my inner center. All the anxiousness, negativity and turmoil was suddenly washed away. My meditation was followed by my spiritual time and my gratitude practice. Then it was time for my meeting. I must tell you, had I not practiced any of these things which I have mentioned my approach would have been completely different. I would have gone in with guns blazing and I would not have had the positive outcome which I wanted.

This morning I followed more or less the same routine, but this time I included my cycle around the neighborhood. When I returned, I was completely focused with the creative juices flowing. I am in absolute awe at the effect meditation, together with my other positive habits, has had on my mindset. It is as if I finally have clarity and peace. It has highlighted the importance of combining these 4 habits. Yes, individually they are great, but once they are combined, body, mind and spirit, they are more powerful than even I expected.

I am a firm believer that since all 4 of my habits were in harmony, I was completely open to receive the messages which the universe and the “big man” had put in my path. I hope that I have given you some food for thought on some wonderful practices to start your day off in a positive mindset.

Until next time.

Light, love and positive thoughts
