Unfinished Projects

You may recall at the start of our 21 day lock-down I had a “to do” list:

Done:

  • Cleaning of the fridge and freezer

  • Sorting out of the food pantry

  • Cleaning of Oven

  • Rearranging of both Jason and my wardrobe

  • Rearranging of both Jason and my socks and underwear drawers

  • Freshening of mattress

  • Taking stock of the medicine cupboard

  • Sorting out the linen cupboard

Yet to do: Rearranging of kitchen cupboards

  • Listening to and sorting out of all my now ancient music cassettes

  • All badly scratched CD’s to be discarded of

  • Rearranging of garage cupboards

As well as the start of a “shopping list” of “must haves”.

  1. Kitchen gloves

  2. Steel wool

  3. Dusting cloths, as you can never have enough

Luckily for me these are seen as part of essential items, so I managed to stock up on this, but have also in the meanwhile added some more items to my list:

  1. Baking tins for various purposes

  2. A baking sieve

  3. Wooden spoons (these just need replacing)

Now I wonder if I will be allowed to buy those? Will give it a shot and see what happens especially since my Checkers has been pretty good! They have removed all items that are not for sale. Takes the confusion out of the what you can and cannot buy, unlike some others that have not bothered and just put tape around it or give you “attitude” at the pay point.

Besides my “own” list, Jason also received a list from me, even though he already had his own one. I really cannot complain. I have a DIY whiz of a husband and unlike some wives, I am spoilt, in the fact that I do not really have to ask him to do anything. He will notice something out of his own and then go ahead and fix it. Unlike others that have to wait months and eventually give up and hire someone to come do a simple task!

A couple of the tasks that I really wanted Jason to do was repaint our garden gate and spray paint my bookcase in my office. The star that he is, he bought all of the necessary paint prior to lock-down, or so he thought. He started sanding the gate, put on the wood primer and then realized that the white paint he thought he had was in fact for walls and not wood. Needless to say we now have a white and pink gate, instead of a bright white one! For those that do not know, primer is pink! As you can see, halfway through, he unfortunately also ran out of primer!

As for the bookcase, turns out that 3 bottles are not enough, and that we need 3 more! Half of the shelves are done and the other half need an extra coat or 2 since the black is still showing through the white. I know that as soon as he can buy paint, that he will complete his “projects”. My husband is good like that! Lucky me!

I am sort of glad that I have not “whizzed” through my list! I mean what was I going to occupy myself with during stage 4, if I did not still have some items to tick off?

Has this happened to anyone else? Unfinished projects?

I am not talking about the unrealistic “goals” or “new skills” or whatever other “thing” society is telling us we should be doing. I am talking about things that are actually important to us! Things that we have put aside....

My Italian language lessons are still ongoing, although I have become a bit slack with that one! I have finished reading 3 books and have 1 more to go. There are still various recipes I need to try out. Housecleaning has now become a weekly “thing”. I will be able to go for morning walks and I guess continue blogging.

These things are not a “to do” list, but rather a “would like to because I really want to” list.

Until next time

Love, light and positive change

Ophelia
